Local Streaming Woes

I asked about this issue of not being able to stream my local content awhile ago but didn’t really get a good answer. It did resolve itself on it’s own without any intervention on my part. So here’s a new wrinkle. On two separate Roku TV’s, I can stream local content to one TV but not the other. Both Roku’s are the same version. Both TV’s are the same brand and model (TCL 55r655). Both Plex versions are the same version (9.3.13.11094-15e051ac-Plex), yet one will play local content, and the other prompts for the Remote Pass. I have not changed a single setting on the router, modem, or media server.

This will most likely happen if your networks are on different networks. What I mean by that is differnet IP addresses. This can happen if you have multiple routers in your home network, each one provides a different network segment than the others.

Check to see if your Roku’s are connecting to different wifi routers (or wired into different routers, if wired).

I had to power cycle the modem and router-once I did that, the remote watch pass prompts disappeared.
