Local subtitles not being added to one show, unless unmatch > match again

Note: This only applies to one show, others are working as expected.

When I add a new episode of the show to the library folder (along with properly named .srt files) and update the library the subtitles will not get added into plex. However, if I unmatch the show and then match it again with TVDB, the subtitles will be added. At first I thought it could be a problem with agents, but I played around with that to no avail - and as I said earlier other shows work just fine. I also tried putting it in its own library but still the same issue there.

This show has a lot of episodes, so it’s quite a pain to unmatch and match again it every week.

Any ideas? I was thinking it’s maybe a cache issue but I’m not sure what’s safe to delete.

I still suspect it is an agent “thing”.

Please post the Plex XML info of one episode of that show.

will work every time - unless an embedded Title Field in that MP4 is getting in the way.

Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure (you don’t have any of those yet), but you can combat that situation by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Show and Movies here:

Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it. If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don’t it won’t matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom.

Renaming/restructuring is best performed OUTSIDE the library and you’ll need to write a new bundle for the show so The Plex Dance® was invented:

  4. clean bundles

Analyze didn’t work, I believe I’ve tried that before.

    Those exact steps didn’t work, either. None of the subs show up - unless I unmatch and match again.

I’m just confused because I didn’t have these issues a couple of months ago, they just started randomly one day and only for this show.

Produced an instant, fully populated match - except for the description that doesn’t exist at TVDB. I think at that point the sub may be downloaded properly. Unless a bug has been discovered, but we’ll never know if you don’t have fully compliant file names and structures getting that first time match:

@JuiceWSA , I did change the filenames as you said the first time.

But, I also think you might have misunderstood (since you talk about downloaded subs), these are local (.srt) subtitles, that only show up after unmatch > rematch. I do not want downloaded subs, I want the local ones.

I did miss that bit. Are you getting that ‘instant, first time match’ I spoke of?

Did you managed to get the subtitles to work? I’m still struggling with this :frowning:
Subtitles will only work if I match and unmatch the whole Running Man series every week.

TV Shows/Running Man/Season 2018/Running Man - s2018e413.mp4
TV Shows/Running Man/Season 2018/Running Man - s2018e413.en.srt

Metadata gets pulled correctly from tvdb.
Only this show’s subtitles won’t work, no problems with other movies and TV shows.
