Location for PLEX Media on NAS

Server Version#:1.20.4.3517

I have been advised that you should not store PLEX Media under the “Multimedia” folder on the NAS.

So, I need to no the best way to move my media subfolders from that folder to a new unique folder.

Thanks!

The best approach is one where the shared folders make sense to you:

Two common techniques are often found:

  1. A shared folder for each library type. e.g. “Movies” shared folder, “TV” shared folder", etc
  2. A “Media” shared folder with subfolders
/share/CACHEDEVx_DATA/
  Media/
    Movies/
    Television/
    Music/
    Photos/

Whichever technique is easiest and most logical for you is best.
The only recommendation is to avoid that MultiMedia shared folder

If, because of how your drives are setup , you need “Movies” , “Movies2”, “Movies3”, then that’s OK too. Plex will simply merge all of them (“EDIT” the “movie” section library and add all the shared folders being used)

What tool or utility do I use to move the subfolders?

Thanks!

If you use the “File Station” on your NAS, the move will just take seconds.
