After logging in to my primary account, I’m asked to select a user and enter a pin number to continue. I think it would make a lot of sense to have a logout link or button on that screen. This would be useful for when I login with my account temporarily on a new machine for testing, and forget to log out, but also don’t have automatic sign-in enabled, so whomever is next on the machine can log in with their account instead of just being locked out of Plex completely.

My test-case has only been with WebUI for now.
Plex Home and Fast User Switching are meant for people which live in the same household with you.
Usually these ppl are less technically inclined. Offering them a Logout button in plain sight will make matters worse for many, many other server administrators, because parents, spouses or children will click it. Thus rendering the web app useless for them and the server admin will then get a call “Plex is broken!”.
You can sign out the web browser from your plex account with the Sign Out link under your user avatar.
Thanks for the explanation. That’s how I use it normally. This case
just came up for the first time for me in years. I understand how
that could be more trouble than it’s worth. I still think the
function should exist though even if through a URL not linked in the
page (which I tried and failed). Ultimately I ended up doing exactly
what you said, but because I had left the computer I was testing from,
I had to give up my PIN so my dad could log out and then back in with
his actual account.
I would and always use incognito/private browser session when not at home.
Or clear history. I know FireFox you can even select time range to clear.
Cache and Cookies should do it.
But I see what you want.
Like Otto stated though, the only thing wrong with this is the fact anyone can log you out. That means Bart can be the little s**t he is and sign you, and all your members out and everyone will have to wait til Homer comes home from work.
As it stands now, the admin is the only one who can sign-out… Everyone else just gets “switch users”.
