Now I know that these filenames are horrid, but the filesystem can deal with them…
No - that is literally the directory name. Might have expanded at one time as it appears this came from a Windows system (note the .BAT file), but presently this is in an ext3 filesystem on a linux mounted iscsi volume that is NFSv3 exported and mounted by the Mac running the server.

So it looks like 19?? is mapping poorly. I will rename this on the ext filesystem. I changed it to 19xx and it now shows up properly on the OSX client.
I just went through and found all of the files that had a “?” in the filename (or directory name) on the NFS server side and removed or replaced those characters. There were only 4 that needed changed.
There weren’t many of those and I’m cleaning them up on the linux side iteratively. The scanner seems to get stuck on directories that contain no music content like “covers” and “lyrics” but since plex doesn’t really care about that stuff, I’ve been removing them as well. Once I’m finished manually cleaning up the data, I would be happy to go through the logs and try to find any remaining filename errors.
and just to be clear, there are no truncated names. These files have not seen a windows native filesystem for a LONG time, and any truncation occurred before they took residence on my linux filesystem.
Could you tell me if these exist. Please look for them using the characters I am pasting (in case there are some unprintable characters or different “-” characters.
They all failed with a boost error on this function boost::filesystem::file_size giving error No such file or directory

I would like to have logs of this after you got rid of the special windows named directories XXXXX~X which in windows is the way to represent long filenames in old DOS syntax. I want these out of the way with standard naming.
All the long name errors are for files within a sub-directory below the 1Z1MOD~P directory

OK - all cleaned up and sIt canned one more time. It now seems to hang up when it hits Spinal Tap, but the library looks pretty much complete and the server does not hang any more. Will upload logs momentarily Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-27_05-15-54.zip (5.5 MB) .
