I’ve read there is now a Plex Pro installer program…Can’t find much details about it though…has the program been disbanded?
I was hoping I could hire someone in Toronto, Canada to setup Plex and my local storage etc…(some of this stuff if way over my head).
I do try and learn/pick-up as much as possible…But it would be awfully nice if an expert in this stuff could actually set it all up for me.
What? No… don’t do that, don’t pay money to get Plex installed. It’s so much easier than you think… and you can always ask questions here. Heck I set it up, so can you.
I have an Nvidia Shield (16gb ver.) running as a plex server, and my media library is on my local PC (in another room), all hardwired with fiber internet (250mbp up/down).
It’s a no frills PC (i5; 16gb ram; 4tb hdd).
All cat7 cables.
Playing 4k hdr on plex has been great thus far…no hickups with non atmos/dts:x files.
Recently I upgraded my sound-system to a Samsung HW-Q80R soundbar to access atmos + dts:x.
Shield (16 gb ver.) is connected to the soundbar.
So now when I try to play 4K HDR files with atmos or dtsx…movie plays fine with atmos/dtsx up until halfway…then it glitches.
And then I get a pop up “my connection is not fast enough”…etc…
I’m guessing its some sort of latency issue with plex trying to play files with higher audio codecs over LAN, and accessing these files on my PC?
What can I do to speed up how Plex accesses the media?
move my media to external SSD, and plug into Shield Tv.
Or maybe connect the SSD to my router.
The whole networking stuff is where I get stumped…
Sorry for the long post.
web client version (PC): 3.108.2
Plex media server (nvidia shield):v1.17.0.1766
I’ll try to grab some logs later on tonight when I attempt to re-watch it.
In this case It’s “Water World” with a DTS-HD MA 7.1.
Soundbar display it as DTSX on the soundbar when the movie starts.
I’m guessing if I get the pop up notice again on the plex/shield - I have to pause the movie - go to web client (on PC) > setting> troubleshooting > download logs?
Sorry, I am not sure how to on an NVIDIA Shield (It may be possible it doesn’t have logs like the FireTV and the AndroidTV layouts), I know where to get them on Mobile Devices, and on the PC, but not on that platform. The client logs are secondary anyways for the most part, the important stuff is usually in the Server Logs.
By glitches are you meaning audio dropouts? A known Issue on the Shield of late.
They can be micro so barely noticeable or very noticeable. I have also seen comments on reddit that they often only occur after around the hour mark. Also others report it’s only with DTS.
Either way it needs an Nvidia fix.
Yes, micro (almost static) bursts or dropouts…but only when I,m trying to skip forward or backwards on Plex…doesn’t occur on Netflix or Amazon Video.
Although if I pause the Plex movie and then try and skip backwards or forwards…it’s OK.
I’m going to keep watching content and see how it goes.
I’ve also just updated my shield this evening to - SHIELD Experience Upgrade 8.0+ Fifth HotFix Image (32.5.205.75)
My Nvidia Shield is the 16gb ver.
