Looking for Servers issue when sharing with friends. - Ubuntu 18.04

Hi There,

I hope someone can help me out. Right now I’m trying to share my server with plugins activated with some friends but for some reason the server wont come up at all. Plex will continues to display “Looking for servers”.

I’m able to access my server remotely on my phone and other computer using my account but unable to see it with my friends.

The server is being run on a Ubuntu 18.04 system.

Server Version#: Version 3.67.1
Player Version#: Version 1.13.8.5395

If you are accessing your server directly, you must also make sure it’s visible via Plex.tv (Remote Access) for them to see it else they will need to direct-in as well.

Seems to be a fault now… plenty of people having this issue…

@ChuckPa - Thank you for the reply. I do have remote access setup and ready to go. How would they set direct access? There using an app to access my server. I know they tried it using a browser and the issue continues. I also tested the issue from a different browser on the same computer that has Plex server running and I got the same issue.

I am preparing to share 1.13.4 for you to confirm / try. It will tell me a lot.
If there is no difference, your DEBUG logs will be needed. (they will be needed anyway at some point)

This is 1.13.4 Ubuntu/Debian 64 bit from my G-drive.

Try it and lets find the differences.

I installed the file from the link and still nothing. How would I go about sending you the DEBUG logs? Also, how do I find the logs? I hope fixing this issue will also help with a new issue i’m having not displaying the plug-ins on the PS4 Plex app.

Since you can’t access the web app, please make a tar.gz of the Logs directory from the shell after restarting PMS and waiting about 3 minutes for it to get settled and attempting to talk to Plex.tv

I have the file ready to go. How can I send it to you?

I received the file.

You have a very troubled device.

Whatever is at that IP address keeps connecting and disconnecting (breaking) its connection to the server. It is the device itself (or Plex Player in it) which is connecting and disconnecting rapidly. The logs do not go into detail as to why it has disconnected.

Otherwise I do see streaming from the server to other devices.

Let’s take this step now for you to get control of the server again.

  1. Close the browser completely
  2. Open the browser
  3. Open an In Cognito window
  4. In that new window, open the IP address of the server directly (this loads the web client from it and ignores the fact you are already signed in to Plex.tv in the web account

Wow ok.

I tried the steps and after testing it using a different account that I gave access to my plugins the issue continues.
I know this computer is using a USB Ethernet adapter to be able to get an internet connection. Maybe thats what is making it go crazy.

Whatever that device is, it’s causing PMS to check into the mental ward :smiling_imp:
