Looney Tunes and Plex Agent vs. TVDB

I have many of the older Looney Tunes and I recently added some more. When I did and Plex discovered them all of the LT changed artwork and the titles disappeared. When I do a “fix match” it shows Plex Agent and won’t let me change to anything else. I think it was TVDB before.

I would really like my titles back for my over 500 cartoons. Any idea what’s going on or how to fix it?
Thank you!

Edit the looney tunes show and set its “episode ordering” to “TheTVDB (aired)”.

Compare the season and episode numbers of your files with those listed on TheTVDB Looney Tunes - TheTVDB.com

Refresh Metadata of the whole show.

I did this and nothing changed that I can tell :frowning:

Before I added the some more episodes the other day I had the same artwork that is at tvdb instead of this “Looney Tunes Show” artwork, as well as the episode titles.

Also when I click “fix match” it say Looney Tunes Show, 2011 and Plex Agent. I can’t change Plex Agent and when I try to change Looney Tunes Show or 2011 it reverts back to this. I don’t know what was there previously as I never looked because the box art and titles were correct. I added some of the Super Star Dvds and the Bugs Bunny 80th collection and thats when the problem started. All the episodes are named in this fashion: Looney Tunes - s1931e12 - Bosko the Doughboy.m4v or Looney Tunes - s1933e15 - Dish Ran Away With the Spoon.

I have all 41 seasons of the original run, 1929 thru 1969, over 1000 episodes, trust me on this. Get Filebot, name them per the plex convention (you can set Filebot up to do this automatically) have Filebot name them via TVBD then install them in Plex.

Can you give me an example of how one should be named?

Ok I purchased and used Filebot. I selected TVDB and had it rename them. They look like Looney Tunes - 1930x01 - Sinkin’ in the Bathtub.m4v for example.

I had Plex refresh and scan and I’m still seeing the same things as in the screenshots above.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean “The Looney Tunes Show”. I meant “Looney Tunes”.
They’re different things.
The latter is the original, that’s the one you must match your files against.

AS far as I can tell I did match them against the Looney Tunes (not show). I’m not sure where Plex is getting show at all, as I didn’t have this problem with the episodes I owned (Golden Collections). I only started getting this problem after adding Super Stars and Bugs 80th discs.

So baffled. Hope you can help!

Thanks again!

I decided to remove all of the Looney Tunes from Plex. I emptied the trash and I restarted the computer and Plex. Then I added the Looney Tunes folder back. When Plex found it, it made 1930 correct artwork (no show titles) but all other years are still wrong (still Looney Tunes Show artwork, no titles).

Urgh!

Also if I go to “Fix Match” on the 1930 box cover it shows “Looney Tunes” 1929
whereas if I go to “FIx Match” on the rest of the seasons box art is shows “The Looney Tunes Show” 2011 and it will not let me change it and keep the changes, they always revert back and nowhere in the list of options does it show just plain “Looney Tunes” for me to select.

The episode titles in your screenshots suggest that these are read from embedded meta data in your files.
Edit your tv show library,
go to the Advanced tab
and disable “Prefer local metadata”.

Second, you are not following the requirements for file naming and folder organization for tv shows in Plex.
If you continue this, you will never get the results you are expecting in Plex.

I did have them named Looney Tunes s01e01 - title.mkv and I was told above to use the Filebot renamer and select TVDB and I did but it named them as above. I just changed those today and I already had a problem before changing them. I will gladly change them back if I can figure out how.

You need to tell Filebot that you are a Plex user. By default, Filebot uses the Kodi naming schema. Plex naming schemes for FileBot

Filebot has a “revert history” feature.

Ok…I will try that.

Unchecking fixed my problem though.

Ok. I used the revert and now I have 4 seasons (which is only 5 episodes total) that are in a different folder (poster) in plex. Not sure why. I don’t see anything different about the way these 5 episodes are named. These same 4 seasons have other episodes that show up correctly in the 39 seasons folder.

So in my Cartoons Library (which is a TV Shows library) I see this:

Under Looney Tunes 39 episodes I see this:

And this:

Under Looney Tunes 4 episodes I see this:

And this:

I also discovered a difference in the edit/advanced dialog for each of the poster/folders.

The Looney Tunes 39 episodes shows this

The Looney Tunes 4 episodes shows this - airing order is NOT a choice in the Episode ordering on this dialog but that is what the other dialog is set to (and works correctly)

It means you have switched the metadata Agent
but have not completed the process properly.
Perform “Refresh Metadata” of the whole library and let it complete the process.

That fixed it! Thank you so much!
