Cannot add Looney Tunes correctly

I am trying to index Looney Tunes season 1-5 however, I have two other shows as well

  • Looney Tunes Show
  • Looney Tunes Cartoons

And what is happening is it is adding the first 2 seasons to Looney Tunes Show and then the next 3 seasons to Looney Tunes Cartoons (the one that started in 2019, not 1930). I cannot seem to get plex to correctly index Looney Tunes as Looney Tunes.

I have named the files like:

  • looney.tunes.01x01.mp4
  • the.looney.tunes.show.01x01.mp4
  • looney.tunes.cartoons.01x01.mp4

But I cannot seem to get these to split out and catalogue correctly.

Any ideas?

There is no season 1 to 5 of Looney Tunes.
It uses the years as season numbers.

While true, I have 26 labelled seasons of Looney Tunes and 6-26 work fine in Plex, only 1-5 do not, it seems to be more when there are other conflicting Looney Tunes shows rather than search data is in year format

There is only one “Looney Tunes” left on TheTVDB.

You also need to follow Plex’s naming and organization guidelines.

Use sXXeYY instead of 01x01.

I do not see a listing on TheTVDB.com for a 2019 Looney Tunes show.

If what you have is a repackaging of the original cartoons, use this naming/organization:

You guys should check out DVD order, Looney Tunes - TheTVDB.com that’s what my files are ordered by, so Looney Tunes does have seasons

It’s actually listed as 2020 Looney Tunes Cartoons - TheTVDB.com but everywhere else as 2019

Is there a way I can change the ordering of my tv shows in plex so that it chooses the dvd order over the default?

These are new episodes, which have nothing to do with the classic episodes.
So, a completely different series.

You will have to do that on a show-by-show basis.
DVD order is not available as a library default (it doesn’t make sense, because not all shows do even have a DVD ordering available).

Just go to the highest level of each show and edit it.

Yeah that’s the point, the other guy was saying no show is listed by 2019, so I was just saying on tvdb it is 2020

How? I have checked the options in my plex but I cannot find anything to allow me to do this

What is selected as the Agent for this library, when you edit it (on the Advanced tab)?

Plex TV Series, I upgraded some time ago since Plex kept telling me the old agent was out of date

Ensure that you are on the top level of the show, by clicking on the show’s title, e.g.

Then use the Pencil icon to edit it

Sorry it’s actually still doing it, I have gone ahead and renamed all my files by the year now and plex, yet again sees all this right telling me t is season 1930, but now it is putting everything but season 1951 in the other loony tunes shows, so it is even worse than it was before.

There is clearly something wrong here, like it is using a too liberal regex to match certain files and it is dumping all looney tunes under a few shows.

How can I fix this?

Ok there has been some change, it has now put everything under The Looney Tunes Show rather than spreading it between that and Looney Tunes Cartoons

After renaming files which have previously been mismatched in Plex, you must perform the Plex dance to clear the wrong match.

Nope, does not work and I even tried a few tests.

So I removed all Looney tunes from scanned folders, did the steps there and then re-added just Looney tunes, not the other two, rescanned and it is still showing all but 1951 as The Looney Tunes Show

As you can see I have correctly named everything now but it will still incorrect assign them.

I also notice that when trying to fix match it does not find Looney Tunes but finds all the other Looney Tunes shows

It doesn’t find the original Looney Tunes show at all

It just picks the first one off that list, which in this case happens to be The Looney Tunes Show
