None of the episodes have names either. I’m not sure what I did wrong as I’ve supplied it the IMDB tt#### and named all the episodes as they are on IMDB. What can I do to fix this other than going through and manually altering every folder and file?
Based on what I’ve been reading in the forum, your best shot is to go with the episode order as presented on TheTVDb for this one – using Looney Tunes as show name and listing seasons based on release years (e.g. 1929, 1930…).
Plex has no concept of subsequently released collections of discs – just the show as it aired.
On TMDb, the show is instead listed as a collection of short films. So, if you want to organize them as a show, TMDb won’t be much help.
Ok, I’ll try that. I get Plex not knowing it’s all one collection show or somehow linked. But, I’m surprised it doesn’t just use the metadata and thumbnails from the IMDB tt#### and treat them as separate shows.
As I’ve recently experience, Plex doesn’t pull any metadata from IMDB for tv shows.
One option would be to create the Platinum Collections as “tv shows” on TMDB. I had to do that with the tv show I was having trouble matching. It was on IMDB but nothing on TVDB or TMDB. Once you get the hang of it, adding metadata to TMDB is pretty straight forward. In this case, it would primarily be a lot of copying and pasting from the movie version of the collections and IMDB. Then just wait until the Plex Agent gets populated.
instead of the imdb tag. I cleared my plex and plug caches. Went to Agents (Legacy) and under Shows set The Movie Database to be the top one under both TheTVDB and The Movie Database tabs. Scanned the TV Shows Library Files and waited until that finished. Refreshed all metadata and waited for that to finish. But, still get the same results. Please let me know if I need to do something differently.
You shouldn’t use the legacy agents – those are deprecated and will go away at some point.
Use the regular Plex Series agent and set the episode order for that show to TheTVDb (Aired).
There’s probably no need to apply any matching hints ({tmdb-317193}…).
Ok, those are the tags for the Platinum collection that are considered movies on TMDB. Plex will never match tv shows to movies.
What I’m suggesting is, if you don’t want to rename all the shows in your folders to match the TVDB entries, is to create the tv show version of the collections on TMDB and list all the episodes similar to your folder structure.
So, I get that TMDB considers them to be a movie. But, I’m not sure I understand your solution. What do you mean by “create the tv show version of the collections on TMDB”? Is that different than what Tom and Ford suggested doing by just creating a Looney Tunes folder and setting the seasons to the years?
I’m suggesting that if you want to have Plex match your current folder structure, you’ll need to create that on TMDB, similar to the way it is organized on IMDB.
If you want to Plex to match it to TVDB, you’ll need to rename your folders & files to the TVDB layout.
Seems like either way, you have some work to do. Am I making any sense?
Ohhhh, ok! I didn’t realize you meant for me to create it on their website. Gotcha. Yeah, like Ford said, that could easily get deleted. I’ll go Tom and Ford’s route and create a Looney Tunes folder with the year for seasons. Thanks guys!
