after the last update, i seem to have lost the ability to do a manual match, via search options and the agent drop down box.
i only get the new plex agent in the drop down box (used to get plex legacy and TMDB) is this intentional?? or do i need to reboot the server or something to get the other options back??
driving me nuts… have a dozen films a day that plex won’t match, used to be able to click search options and have TMDB match it (9 out of 10 times)… now i’m just stuck : (
it still works if you go to your servers ip… but not via the app.plex.tv
well at least i can match/fix all the movies i hadn’t been able to fix/match the last few days : )
i’d still like to know if this is a bug… or a ‘feature’ : ) : (
arghh… they must have been watching… . hahaha… now they’ve taken away the ability to use other ways to match on the local ip hosted version as well : (
so frustrating… gonna have so many things than never match now…
the only way to get the 9 or 10 things the plex movie agent just draws a blank on to match… is now to edit the library… change to TMDB agent, cancel the scan… then match the unmatched movies hahaha…
it’s just so darn frustrating… why on earth would they remove this drop down box ability?? and add like 4 steps hahaha… (i prefer the plex movie agent, but for whatever reason… i find it just draws a blank on 9 or 10 more obscure movies a day that TMDB has no problem matching…so…) argh…
the two agents are totally different code bases that can’t work with each other in the same library. That is why the Upgrade Matching process is necessary to switch a library over as well. If you are using the new agent for the library then it cannot use the old agents int he Fix Match.
Even when it was there it and you selected TMDB it still actually did not use it.
The new agent gathers info from multiple sources including TMDB so if you can tell me the names of those obscure movies that did not come up we can try to find out why. You can also use the TMDB ID to try to help it in the file name Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}.mkv or in the search box.
well why did it work/we had a choice via the fix match/search options/drop down box up until last week?
as for the unmatched movies… it’s way too many to mention… at least a dozen a day or so… i’d always end up having to use the drop down and have TMDB match after plex drew a blank : (
your saying it never used it even if i selected it? since the library upgrade?
well that is weird then… cause i’d been changing/doing that to match unmatched things every single day…
though… there is the weird bug i always run into where i have to open and close the match/fix match dialog to get the right matches to come up (ie to click match and plex returns no results or not the right results, and you close the dialog and do it again and sometimes it does bring up results and a match)
i guess maybe the times i thought i was finding matches/a fix via TMDB drop down, maybe it was just redoing the plex search and showing up the second try/like closing the dialog and trying again which i find you have to do alot?
yeah that is the sort of thing that was causing lots of confusion since the two codebases just won’t work properly together. The old agents with python which we are going to be removing completely from the PMS at some point. The new agent uses native code of PMS
If you can tell me some of the movies that we’re not finding a match for I can let our dev team know. I don’t know off hand why they would not be found in a search if they exist on TMDB
from memory… it’s usually more art films and tv docs that TMDB would have/match and plex wouldn’t know what to make of…
and a lot of asian films, where the title of the film would draw a blank via plex and the old plex legacy…
but the same title in the search box would get a hit via the TMDB drop down (often the result that popped up would be in japanese/Chinese? characters, but when you clicked on it to match it would match them in english, with the proper name… weird i know… but happened a lot, probably to do with the movies having multiple release names : )
ie- if i went to Wikipedia or imdb and tried some of the other names the asian film was released as around the world, often i could get a hit/plex to match it eventually… but i just found it easier to use the drop down to TMDB and it would usually match the movies without me having to try all the different release names/alternate titles… if that makes any sense hahaha…
