SO, Something happened and all the NAS devices containing my media dropped offline. I restarted PMS with them all back on, pulled down the “open plex” and… The browser opened with just the big PLEX logo and nothing else. So, I rebooted the Mac, and then same thing. THEN I re-installed the PMS and… same thing.
HELP! What can I try? Is there any command line or url thingie I can try?
OR is there some “recovery” I can try???
Any ideas most appreciated.
An additional datapoint might lead to this being a change in Plex.tv’s web code just not working with an old browser…
I went to Safari (ver 11.1.2 running on Mac OS X 10.11.6 – an old machine that’s just been running Plex for years) and wanted to login to Plex. SO, I logged out and then clicked “sign in” on the plex.tv’s pull down and: a white box appears with just “Account Sign in” at the top and the rest all blank!
So, I can’t even login to my PlexPass account with Safari on my “Plex machine” (an old Mac Mini). On a more modern Mac (Safari 15.3) I can easily sign-in and then even go to my PMS and control it via PlexWeb.
Could THIS be the cause of the the “Plex logo just appearing (and nothing else) when I open Plex” on my old Mac Mini?
If so, what’d y’all change? WHY? Other than having to upgrade an entire machine just to run a newer browser, this makes no sense… and upgrading is always “dangerous” in the sense of losing some setting or some metadata when upgrading the Mac OS on my Plex Media Server box.
I have the same issue, I run a mac on 10.11.6 and always leave my Plex account signed in.
I rebooted my machine and went to open Plex on my Mac and just get the Plex logo.
Also when going to the Plex website on the same machine, in only see the white sign in box, with no fields to capture username and password.
I agree this seems like a change has been made where the safari browser no longer works correctly with the site.
Revert whatever you’ve changed please or add compatibility back in.
