Updated to latest version of appleTV and, without announcing it, it did a re-install and reset everything. Plex wasn’t there so I downloaded it and when I fired up, users and media server were gone. Plex on my iPad is there and working as is the Plex server on my Mac laptop. Is there any way to restore Plex on my appleTV?
I’m trying to understand the relationship between my Plex server and Plex client. The server sits on on a NAS and I have a client on my iPad. When I try to log on to the iPad Plex I’m asked which of 3 users I want to be. Does my server know about these users? If so, where can I find them on the server? I ask these questions because when I install Plex client on my appleTV it asks me which of 2 users I want to connect with, neither of which are the 3 on the iPad. Where is it getting these users from?
Thinking about the errors in the log file I realized that this iss most like not caused by an tvOS update, so I rolled back the Plex server to version 1.41.6.
This solved the issue and all ATV’s can connect without any problem..
There is clearly something wrong in the current version.
For now I can perfectly work with the ‘old’ version.
Plex Home is an account thing not a server thing. There is a Plex Home admin ( this is not the same as a server admin). They can create a Plex Home which is meant for people you actually live with that may use the same devices like a TV or a shared Tablet or whatever.
When the app loads after the initial sign in it can see if you are in a Plex Home or not and if so displays the user picker. Every time the app is opened it shows that user picker ( unless it is set to skip it because you may not need i on your own personal phone that only you use.
This screen has absolutely nothing to do with having access to server or not.
