Hi there, i desperately need help. Yesterday i noticed the update. I updated my Sinology DC 918+ to DSM 7. which then broke my plex. I then updated plex, but instead of “normal” install i mistakenly clicked “log files to internal” . This made my plex server redetect everything. Now my metadata is messed up and i have lost all my viewed/unviewed status. The metadata isn’t the end of the world. It will just be a pain in the ass for a few days while all the previously downloaded movies and show get burred by new downloads. What i am really concerned about is loosing the viewed status. I don’t want to go back and sort through a thousand movies and hundreds of tv shows for which episodes I’ve watched. I still have all the data in my pre DSM 7 move Plex Media Server folder. But i cant seem to figure out how to move the viewed/unviewed data from the old plex to the new plex folder.
thank you so much for the fast reply! I think i followed most of those steps last time I installed (I’ve done it twice with no success so far). One even with the full erase option last night. The only thing I haven’t been able to get is the “migration” part. I did not set the timeout thing. But i never received any notice about the migration. I’m not super tech savvy so this gets a little over my head.
Oh and also, I’ve already updated to DSM 7. So anything regarding stuff to do before upgrading to DSM 7 I cant do.
I thought i got it. I had only changed the permission to read/write. not full control. i did that for all shares, and then i got the long install. but now after over an hour with the install wheel it just errored out and said it couldn’t be done.
All the folders have ACL option Greyed out.
Now it says plex is running, but when i click open it wont connect.
EDIT:::
It would appear the error did not matter. After a couple minutes the server started back up and all my files, metadata, and view status are back to normal!
I really thought that it hadn’t worked. Thankfully i didn’t act too quickly and try to reinstall again. I can report everything is working correctly now.
