Love Plexamp (but would be nice to have chromecast support)

I honestly would be promoting this over spotify and youtube music if it got looping playback and chromecast support. It’s really amazing otherwise.

Another emphatic +1 for chromecast and android auto.
As someone else said, the main plex app implemention in android auto is pretty poor.
As for song ratings… I for one can’t live without star ratings. Having it easy to rate and modify is a must.
It’s a great start though. Love the clean interface

+1 for Chromecast audio support, app is useless to me without it.

Where are you lacking these? Tapping on track titles in player brings up stars in popup.

I know you already confirmed that it is in the works; but I just wanted to add another voice to the choir of chromecast supporters! That would make this already awesome app even better.

Another request if I may (not sure if this is the right place for it) is for the ability to search within a playlist. I curate my music with ratings and then create playlists based off these ratings. Sometimes I want to listen to a particular song but then continue within my 5 star ratings (for example). It would be amazing if this could be made possible somehow.

Good luck with them adding anything else given the time it’s taken to add chromecast, code they all ready know… We are nothing more than beta testers on the quite…

Not lacking, just reacting to the suggestion earlier in thread that no one uses star ratings.
The issue I do have (for a different thread, I know) is importing star ratings from iTunes to plex. My server is on a shield which seems to make it more difficult.

Ah yeah; you can do it with some hoops, afaik; moving over the iTunes XML, making some symlinks or processing the paths to make sure they match, and then running the import.

I finally bought a life time Plex pass and the first thing I did was download Plexamp. After that the first thing I tried to do was cast a song :sob:. Life time Plex pass not off to a good start!

I already achieved this in Plex (and it also includes your play counts which I personally wanted). These are the steps I took. YMMV

  • Export your iTunes library to an XML file
  • Under Settings > Plugins - Ensure the ‘Enable iTunes plugin’ checkbox is ticked. Enter the path to the XML file in the previous step (ensure ‘Show advanced’ is selected to get this option). You’ll need to restart your Plex server for the changes to take effect
  • Create a new playlist within your music collection on Plex (this step is only necessary if you don’t already have the ‘Playlists’ option on the LHS in the next step)
  • Once you can see the ‘Playlists’ option on the LHS; click the three dots next to that and select the ‘Import from iTunes…’ option and then click the ‘Import’ button the popup
  • This may take a while depending upon how big your library is. You can follow the progress of this by checking the ‘Console’ logs (under ‘Manage’)

The added bonus of this is that it seems to automatically update when your library does. I added some new music to my iTunes library; exported the XML file and within a few minutes the songs were in Plex too.

Apparently this feature may be removed in the not-too-distant future (here’s hoping that doesn’t happen!) so you may want to act quickly on this.

ETA: Ahh I just noticed your comment about Shield. I am not familiar with that but if you have a UI then you should be able to replicate the above. If not then hopefully there are commands you can run that do a similar thing. Good luck!

+for Chromecast…but… workaround I did was to use native drop-down cast option in Google menu.
I am currently screen casting to my Google nest hub.

I want to really use this with Android auto…+1 for that!

Lastly, there is the possibility of making me a star by allowing others that I share my servers music. If they can use this, OMG…I would be a hero.

The app itself, interface wise is great so far. No issues.

+1 for Chromecast support, otherwise very nice. It could do with auto-playlist, I do like the radio thing but it’s just not an auto playlist.

+1 for Chromecast support. This and lack of folder-tree nav are the two things keeping me from using Plexamp all the time. Otherwise–bang-up job
