Low quality playback

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: 4.39.1

Seem to be having an issue across all players (incl web player + Apple TV) where all videos are being streamed at low resolution - probably ~320p if I had to guess.

Have tried selecting “use original quality” on Apple TV app but it seems to make no difference.

Wondering if the issue may be to do with the hardware on my server? FYI server is just a Win10 box.

What’s your Plex Server + network configuration?

You appear to have multiple network interfaces in the Plex Server as well as an active Wireguard VPN. Is that correct?

If the VPN is mandatory or is the default route to the Internet, that will include Plex traffic. You’ll probably end up forced through the Plex Relay and everything will be significantly impaired.

I’m Running Plex Server on a Win 10 PC over an Ethernet connection. But … you’re right, there is a VPN running on that box too - VPN Umlimited.

I’ll try disabling the VPN and see how that goes. Might need to find a way to work around that if this is the case.

Some VPN software will allow you to set exclusions for the local network and for specific applications.

… some won’t.

Thanks for the additional info.

It definitely looks like my VPN is throttling my traffic from PMS - disabling it seems to have fixed all my connection issues. It also looks as though VPN Unlimited won’t allow me to set any exclusions, so I might have to investigate either 1) removing my VPN altogether, or 2) replace it with something that will let me set up an exclusion list.
