Plex desktop won't play more than 720p videos

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: 4.4.1

Hello there,
I’ve noticed that plex desktop player won’t give me the option to watch videos in more than 720p while the same video plays in 1080p on my android TV.
The option is just not there.
My server sits behind a 300mbps connection and I’ve set internet playback quality to 20mbps 1080p.
plx1
I just don’t get why the image is great on the TV and terrible on the desktop.
Do you guys have any idea of what’s going on ?
Thanks

What happens when you click on “Afficher tout ”?

Well the “afficher tout” “display all” is already open.

I wonder if your connection is in relay mode (meaning you don’t have a direct local connection to your server)?

You are right, it’s in relay mode as I need to forward a port on my router. I thought UPNP would do it but..nah. I’ll make sure it properly forwarded.
However this doesn’t fully explain why the image quality is great on the TV but terrible on the PC.

weird

Well now I’ve forwarded the port to make the server fully accessible I can select 1080p on the desktop player. However the image feels a bit laggy, jittery on the desktop. (running i5, 8gb, ssd)
I still don’t understand why the quality was 1080p on the TV + smooth, while the server was in relay mode. :expressionless:

Make sure you have
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth

Also, check your router settings, in case you have an issue with ‘DNS rebinding protection’:

My router doesn’t have such protection.
However I’ve turned Automatic Adjust Quality (beta) ON, and everything is fine now.
So to sum up : I’ve made sure the server was accessible, and not using relay, which it was.
I’ve turned Automatic Adjust Quality ON.
All good. Thanks folks
