My system is set up that pretty much anything my friends access from my Plex server is transcoded. Its a long story it took me a year to fix it, and then suddenly my Internet Provider changed my static IP and it was all messed up. So now i upload generally in 720p, my friends are getting it in less quality but seem ok with it. My Plex pass allows me to stream to them at 1-2 gbps. To the best of my knowledge nothing on my end or their end has changed and yet today all of a sudden my brother is streaming (on his tv) at like 300 kbps with constant buffering and stoppage. I checked with my internet provider they hadnt changed anything, i did get bumped from the net, but when i signed back on everything appeared ok on my end. A speed test showed a download speed of 947.63 mbps and upload speed of 905.50 mbps. Any thoughts? Id appreciate the help. TY
I asked another friend to sign on and they watched at 2 gbps, so no problem. My brother still is streaming at 300+ Kbps. We checked his remote, seems fine the setup. He signed onto my nephews Plex server and was able to watch with no issues. Now mind you he has been on my server with no problems for over a year, why all of a sudden is he and only he streaming only from me and not other plex servers…at a reduced quality?
