Mac M1 Remote Access not working

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: 4.47.3

Had an old iMac where I ran a Plex server with no problems. Bought a new M1 Mac Mini (8gb) to migrate the server too. Got it all set up, but I cannot for the life of me get Remote Access to work for a decent stretch of time.

I have gone into my router’s settings and deleted the application hosted in the port from my iMac, and created one from scratch at port 32400 from my Mac Mini. The remote access has worked for a few minutes here and there, but by and large (and currently) it just gives me the red “Cannot access outside your network” message.

Funnily enough, before I could finish writing this post, I retried the connection and it gave me all green, but listed “unknown IP addresses” for both public and private on the Plex web interface. But it is not actually accessible after a quick test.

It’s hard for me to grasp where to start, since the results are varying from moment to moment as to what the problem is: sometimes it’s working (but never for long), sometimes it’s not, and sometimes it says it is but really isn’t.

Does this sound like a Port Forwarding issue? Or something with my Plex server set up? Or just new hardware having bugs?

Any help on where to start, and/or what I can provide to help paint a clearer picture of my situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have solved my issues after a few hours of troubleshooting. My IP address was not static as I thought I had made it. Must not have taken the first few times, for whatever reason. I believe this was the issue. It’s hard to tell, though, because I erased all the applications running at the port forwarding portal and just tried it all over again, and it seems to be running okay for now. We’ll see if it lasts for more than 24 hours. That’s when I’ll trust that it’s working.
