Mac Plex Server is Causing my Computer to Lose Internet Access

After many frustrating hours of trying to figure out what the issue was. I was able to trace the cause to an update to the Verizon Fios iOS app. I usually do not update apps unless forced to and this particular update was a big one. Verizon now has “auto manage” security on devices that are connected to the router. Verizon did not like the open port on Plex and decided to block all in/outbound traffic. An alert from Verizon would have been helpful here.

Long time Plex Pass user here. I’ve had the same setup for years. 2012 Mac Mini as my main home computer running Plex Server. Just last week I noticed that my computer would drop internet access very often. A reboot of the router would solve this issue for about an hour. Pulling my hair out I finally re-formatted my Mac thinking something was corrupt. No time machine backup involved. Re-installed Plex, moved my database folder and plist files to the appropriate folder and boom same exact issue. I’ve narrowed down the problem to something related to Plex but can’t figure out what is causing my computer to loose web access. Reset all Plex settings and am still having the same problem.

Again, I’ve had Plex Server running on this setup for a solid 4-5 years without a single issue and just as of last week this started happening. I’m desperate for an answer as both Plex and Internet access are just as important to my daily life!

Thanks for any help you can provide/suggest here.
