My player setup is a 2018 Mac mini connected via a 4K-capable video amp to a 4K Sony TV, all by HDMI.
Running the Mac at “default for display” resolution results in text so tiny it’s unusable (when trying to use Finder and non-Plex things).
So I set it to “Larger text” in System Preferences / Displays.
All good so far.
I then start PMP, it’s running full-screen.
The first time I try to play video, it is displayed shrunk down in the middle of the screen. The TV is telling me it’s running in 4K mode.
If I return to the PMP menu and then play exactly the same thing again, it now displays it across the whole screen as expected.
After this, everything continues to work normally.
It’s just the first video played after I start PMP that is displayed wrong.
Looks like a bug to me?
