MacOS Plex Server Not authorized or Can't Find Server

I am trying to create a brand new Plex Server on my Macbook Pro using a Network Attached HDD. My max can connect and see the contents of the drive just fine. I downloaded Plex Media Server, logged in with a new account using my apple account, I see the icon in the top bar. I click on “Open Plex” and it opens in my default browser, Chrome. But it says “Searching for Servers” and then “No Server found - Download Plex Media Server”. and it just goes into a loop like that and will not let me create a server.

Oh! I have tried older version of PMS as well as the newest, per other forum posts I have found, and no luck. Same issue. It started with “You are not authorized to view this server.” but there was no server at all. I am trying to create one.

Do the following as instructed and report your result:

  • Open a web browser
  • Type http://127.0.0.1:32400/web into the address bar
  • The browser will connect to the Server and load Plex Web App
