Make Plex for Android TV to DECODE Dolby TrueHD instead of being TRANSCODED by the server to Opus

I’ve been searching for this in the forum and it appears nobody hasn’t provided the idea.

It’s 2026 and Plex for Android TV is still not decoding Dolby TrueHD to multichannel PCM instead of transcoding it to Opus when the sink device doesn’t support it.

I would prefer the app to decode it internally to multichannel PCM just for the sake of avoid transcoding.

Other apps like Jellyfin and Emby do this years ago but Plex is still left behind.

What gives?

Yes, I completely agree with this. We need native support for this within the Plex app.

My Google Streamer 4K (2024) and also some FireOS devices are transcoding audio the same way as described here for Dolby TrueHD, while Video is direct playing.
