MakeMKV will not open

I’m hoping someone else here has run into this same problem and can help. I installed MakeMKV to my iMac running OS Catalina and the download went fine. However, when I tired to open it would not due to the developer not recognized. I discovered this was normal and followed the instructions, which were two different methods: 1) right click on the icon and click on open; 2) go into system preferences and click on “open anyway” button. As for #2, there is no longer an “open anyway” button, apple did away with it. As for #1, when I do this it acts like it is going to open but I get a new error message that says: “ application failed to initialize, NO_ANSWER_FROM_MAKEMKVCON”.

Google search, Apple support search and a search through the MakeMKV forums both resulted in the same two methods being recommended. I see a lot of people here use and recommend MakeMKV so hopefully someone knows of a work around for this problem.

Yes, I was already in the MakeMKV forums and it was no help.

After you right click and open you should see this. I just downloaded it for first time on this mine and it oped fine after clicking open in dialog.

I’m not sure what that error you see is though. If not getting any help on makemkv forums you might want to try reddit

I get that far also but then I get this message when I click on open: “application failed to initialize, NO ANSWER FROM MAKEMKVCON”.
