I setup my young child with a Plex Home Managed Account. On the “Restrictions” tab of their account, I have the “Younger Kid” profile applied, Allow Downloads enabled, and Live TV & DVR Access set to “No Live TV and DVR Access”, however, when I launch the current version of the iPadOS app and switch to my child’s profile, the “Live TV” icon is on the bottom of the screen and Live TV can be accessed as if there was no restriction in place.
And ensure that Live TV is at least “Disabled for managed users.”
In the Plex app itself, you may need to navigate to Settings → Advanced and reset the cache for the change to fully take effect (I’d try that regardless).
Live TV was already set to “Disabled for Managed Accounts”. Resetting the cache had no effect. Also, I tried a second iPad and have the same issue on both. I suspect this is a bug and not an issue with my configuration.
Interesting. I don’t have an iPad with which to test, but I did test on my iPhone, also using Plex version 2025.25.0. With the configuration I described, my managed user doesn’t see the Live TV tab.
Perhaps try logging out of the app completely and logging back in?
Logging out of the app and back in did not change anything.
Notably, on the primary user account, the “Live TV” tab goes to “Live TV & DVR”, but on the managed users accounts, the “Live TV” tab, is only showing Plex Free Live TV. From the support articles, the per user access control for managed users is for “Live TV & DVR”. So, the issue seems to be that Settings → Online Media Sources → Live TV → Disable for Managed Accounts, is not working as expected on my account.
Try setting it to “Disabled” instead to see if that changes things. That will disable it for not only managed users but also the parent account as well. You’ll likely need to reset cache and restart the app for this to take effect.
I was just about to post an update when you suggested the same thing. I switched “Disable for Managed Accounts” to “Disabled” and the feature was completely disabled. After switching it back to “Disabled for Managed Accounts”, it now seems to be working as intended. I did not need to clear the client cache. So… I guess the setting was cached incorrectly on Plex’s side and not in the client.
