I setup a few managed users for my family to watch Plex content. When any of the managed users try to view live tv from my HDHR channels the plex app on Fire OS just sits and spins. I discovered that if I select “convert automatically” it will play back the channel with closed captions burned in even thought they are set to “none”. But if I tell it to play “original quality” it will just sit and spin or give a playback error. What’s really interesting is if I open a channel to playback and tell it to turn on closed captions, of course it plays just fine because its transcoding to burn in the captions. Now here’s the strange part. If after I turn on captions to get the play back to start and THEN turn them back off. It will direct play just fine. I have to turn CC on and then off every time I change channels on a managed users account to view the live local channels. My admin account does not have this issue on the same client.
Posted about this while back and was hoping to get some support on this issue. Hopefully will have better luck this time.
