I changed my managed users to home users but even though they are still able to login with User Name and Password, when they enter their pin, they are not inherited the Plex Pass privileges that a managed user is given.
I opened the Plex app on my iphone and logged in as the admin. In the account section I was told that I had a subscription to Plex Pass. When I went to switch to a home user, I entered the PIN and returned to the account and was told that no subscription existed which meant things like volume leveling and sweet fades don’t work.
Yet, if I install PlexAmp, which requires Plex Pass, I am able to log in as any home user and play music with volume leveling and sweet fades enabled.
Home users do not actually inherit a Plex Pass so their accounts will not show they have one. They inherit some Plex Pass features from the admin, like using PlexAmp.
Isn’t Live TV and DVR a function of Plex Pass as well? Even though my home users can’t get sweet fades or volume leveling, they are able to watch and record Live TV without having a Plex Pass. It doesn’t make sense that permissions are denied in one app but granted in the other app.
Keep in mind that PlexAmp is a different animal than other Plex clients. It’s experimental and may contain features and operate differently than official Plex clients.
If you see discrepancies between the official clients, we can look into those. Differences with PlexAmp, well, they are what they are.
If the admin of the Plex Home has an active Plex Pass subscription, all members of a Plex Home (both Managed Users and regular accounts) will be able to use our regular mobile Plex apps from the various app stores without doing a separate one-time, in-app activation purchase.
Regular accounts in the Plex Home only need to sign into the app using their account and it will recognize they are in a Plex Home and allow use of the app.
For Managed User accounts, the Home admin or another regular account in the Home must sign in first, then switch to that Managed user. From then on, the Managed User will be able to select themselves in the user menu when they open the app.

un-managed home users, have their own account, they get some of the plex pass functions, and they get to use the mobile apps without having to do the 1 time unlock.
