Managing Channels - Two HDHomeRun Primes

I am getting up Plex for the first time.

I have two HDHomeRun Primes.

I see I need to Enable / Disable the available Channels on Each HDHomeRun Prime?

I see how that could be advantages if you had different sources feeding each of the HDHomeRun Primes, but, I"m assuming most folks would be using the same source for each.

It’s going to be painful enough to go through and manually uncheck the channels I want… and to have to do it twice?.. Is there a way to do it once, export the settings to a CSV file, then import to the other tuner? I would think having the ability to export just the Channel Lineup to restore later would be an available feature.

Exporting to a CSV file, sorting as needed in Excel, to get rid of all of the duplicate SD entries (that have HD equals) would be helpful as well.

thank you for your time,
SJ

After spending the time to block all channels on both HDHR Primes, I assumed PLEX would update itself to remove the channels I removed in the HDHomerun software. If even deleted, then re-added the DVR’s, and ran scans again, to get both HDHR Primes showing the same exact channel numbers… part of my quest was to remove all foreign language channels… tonight, I happened upon this in Program Guide: Starting Soon:

I’m only showing one of the HDhomeruns with the RED X next to 517, I verified the other is blocking it as well…

Why?

I think once it is in the database it doesn’t get removed. You could try deleting (or the safer route -
simply move) the database file(s) and rebuilding to see if it still shows up. The database files are located in the main Plex folder, under Plug-In Support\Databases on Windows, but I’d imagine the folder structure is similar on any other OS.

Instead of going through the HDHR Lineup settings to disable the channels you could have used the Plex Manage Channels for each device and unchecked the channels you did not want. Plex is not going to automatically detect that a channel is disabled on the HDHR device until you do a Scan Channels from each device in Plex.

To access this area click on the link for the number of enabled channels under each device.

Hello John, thank you for the info.

Actually, I disabled the channel in HDHR Lineup settings, so that if I access the HDHR’s from other than Plex, I’m only having to manage my available channels in one place. (There’s a good chance I’m bringing my Windows Media Center on Windows 7 back online today to provide a reliable Live TV / DVR setup to the house, until I can comfortable turn Plex loose as the “Reliable” Live TV / DVR setup in the house)

I actually deleted the HDHR’s from Plex, then re-detected them and initiated a new channel scan, so I would assume that Plex should not have any knowledge of this channel.

and looking now at the 'manage Channel window shows that Plex does not see ch 517 on either HDHR Prime:

Hoping that it was just a delay at cleaning up after itself, I went to the program guide to verify that perhaps 517 was not showing… and and no dice, channel 517 is here, when it should not be. I’ve got it blocked at the tuners via HDHR software. I’ve deleted the tuners and re-added them. I’ve verified the tuners don’t even have a check box to check or uncheck channel 517. Yet, it is still there in my program guide.

Strange things afoot…
