Managing TV series when source of media is different than TV

Server Version#: 1.16.0.1226 (QNAP),
Player Version#: Apple TV, Samsung TV app (plus others),

Greetings,

Prior to posting this matter I have looked at the recommended naming and organising guidelines and meta-data management support articles (referenced below) but I remain unsure about a possible solution.

In particular I am struggling with Plex server correctly recognising and presenting/sorting TV serves episodes in a situation when the source of the media is different than TV.

Specifically, let’s take the example of Firefly TV series which was aired in a different order than it is presented on the physical media.

To that effect I have files stored in the correct order (as per official/physical media format) and Plex server catalogues them as Firefly but it assigns incorrect titles/meta-data to those episodes due to the fact that I have listed them in a physical media order and not TV airing order.

With that in mind I am wondering what can I do in order to address it, my preference being Plex displaying media the way I want it to display it and not the way it displays it.

The physical media order of Firefly TV series is listed here:

Plex server catalogues the series in order of airing and as seen on TheTVDB.com
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/firefly/seasons/1

Naming and organising practices document (linked below) does not seem to say anything about a process that one can follow in order to customise the collection…

Is there something that can be done in order to correct/change this?

Kind Regards
Daniel

You can use DVD order for Firefly.

Thank you very much…

This has fixed issues I have had with Firefly and Space: Above and Beyond, both of which were sourced from physical media.

Kind Regards
