Manually Force NVIDIA SHIELD PMS Update?

Hey Guys,
Is there anyway to manually force the Plex Media Server app to update on the shield? The latest version is 1.3 and I am still running the 1.2 version. Wanting to use the Premium Music Library feature but can’t. Any help would be great thanks!

goto playstore in webbrowser and force install from there.

The update should be in available in the Google Play store like any other app. go to the store. select My Apps select it and choose update

I’ve tried to do a force install and all it shows is that it is already installed on my Shield, doesn’t allow me to update it :-/

go to the google play store on the device. open up “My Apps” >select Plex Media Server> select “full description” take a screenshot or cell phone pic of what it shows there.

The Google Play store is showing the latest available, which is 1.3.4. But I’m guessing you are signed up for the DVR beta, since that’s what you are running on the Shield. Is that correct?

Yup, I’m signed up for it but haven’t been able to use it. Is it keeping me from updating?

totally forgot about that. yeah DVR beta is a different branch. if you are a tester you need to stop being a DVR tester here https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb

Yes, you are running the most current DVR beta. That’s why you aren’t getting 1.3.4. Since I don’t run the DVR beta I don’t know off hand how to get back to the current stable. I’ll look around and see what I find.

Okay thank you guys! It looks like I might have to uninstall updates but I think that deletes all data with the app too? So I’d lose my whole set up correct?

yeah if you uninstall updates you will loose everything but afaik you should not have to do that. since the dvr build is a lower version number it should get you back on regular branch and update. where is it telling you that you need to uninstall? after selecting to leave the beta?

i just found out you may have to wait till next regular update.

I just checked my PMS version on Shield Pro and it’s 11.11.3.4803 (smb). Why aren’t I receiving latest version? I am not enrolled to the Google Play link above. It has a button saying “Become a Tester”.

if you want the Plex Pass version of server from Google Play you need to press that button and become a tester.

if the regular version is not updating then you may have to go to play store on your computer and install it from there.

My Plex Media Server on Nvidia Shield TV is stuck at 1.13.5.5291. I see that the current version is 1.16.0.1226. I am logged into the play store with the account configured on the Nvidia Shield, but I do not see an option to force an update.

I have the update channel set to Public on PMS. I have rebooted the Shield several times.

My Plex client on the Shield is 7.17.0.10904

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Never mind, a little googling… On Shield go to Play Store, My Apps, Update All.

Sometime when you go to the the play store “My Apps” then the updates row and click on an app the button will say “open” instead of “update”. this is s bug with the store. just nit back then select the app again and it should say update.

You can also try going to the play store on your computer, find Plex Media Server click the green install button and select your Shield as the device to install it on, It should push the update to your Shield.
