Can anyone tell me if there is a newer version of plex server for nvidia shield. I have two shield servers that are no longer working with the latest roku updates. There is no sign of an update available in the Google Play store. Can someone tell me what the latest version for the Nvidia Shield is, and how to get it, if the update isn’t showing up in Google Play? Or did Plex just render my entire setup useless AGAIN.

The latest public release of PMS is version 1.21.0.3711 (released on Dec 2, 2020).
This version is also available on the Shield.
Just to double-check… the server function is showing as enabled in the Plex for Android settings and you’ve looked for the update in the “available updates” section (not by searching the app itself)?

How to Update Plex Media Server
Unlike a regular Plex Media Server you might run on a computer or NAS device, you can’t arbitrarily update the server version. Instead, new Plex Media Server updates will be released on Google Play specifically for the NVIDIA SHIELD. You would then install the update through the Google Play store just like you would for any other app.
Note : Plex Media Server won’t show up in searches of the Google Play store. But when there’s a new version, it will show up as an available update in Google Play.
Since Plex Media Server updates are distributed just like normal updates through Google Play, it is not possible to downgrade server versions.

same here, says i have to update but there is no way to do this.
Same issue here… Plex media server need an update and I can’t use it until upgrade.
Looking for answer, I found this solution. It works great for me :
“Go to the Play Store on the shield. Scroll down the regular apps until you see Plex App (not the area where you update your apps). Open that Plex app icon, scroll down to “other apps like this” and then near the bottom you should see “Plex Media Server”.
Open that and you should see “Update”. This should update your server portion.”

It was driving me crazy this morning.
Plex was telling me to upgrade the server, but wouldn’t finish the download. The spinning “busy” wheel just kept spinning.

Someone dropped the ball. There was indeed an update to PMS in the apps, I updated, but I still can’t access Plex from the SHIELD 
It works on http://app.plex.tv/web/app and on the Plex client on my windows machine - Anyone know what might be wrong?
This update appears to be completely broken. I am running 1.21.1.3830 but nothing works. cant do anything with it at all. I think Plex just broke the shield. going back to the server on Windows PC until this is fixed.
Similar to windsorr everything for shield in the latest .3830 seems to be broken
The settings within the plex app on the shield says the media server is running but when I got to select it it has a yellow triangle with exclamation mark next to it and I can’t seem to do anything with it.
All other devices have the following error: “SHIELD Android TV is currently unavailable”.
Looking at the shield app logs I get"Skipping pinned source Movies • SHIELD Android TV because it’s outdated."
Exactly same problem on my side.
As windsorr, I did the update based on tom80H info and PLEX Media server is completely unavailable since the upgrade to latest .3830.
I do not find any possibilities to roll-back to previous stable version.

Suggest you put the server back on a PC on your network for now. Thats what i have done and it works even better than it does on the Shield because its running on an i9 Intel rather than Tegra. Problem of course is that the PC has to be on all the time…
Thank you so much for the post. Worked for me! Searched in the Google Store using the Shield, chose Plex Server, and the update button was there.
I’m not sure why this worked, but sweet jesus thank you. I literally just set up my plex server and right after I emailed all my family members to sign up to use it, they push some crazy update like this without an obvious way to repair it. You’re the hero we needed, but not the one we deserved.

(In case someone else has this: after the update, I also needed to go into the Plex settings and restart the server.)
Tried all the suggested solutions here and nothing - still telling me Server Update Needed and that “To continue using Shield Android TV please update it to the latest version”
I’m using the Plex .3830 version and the Shield tells me it is up to date. The only thing I haven’t done is a factory reset for the Shield.
Frustrating!
EDIT: I notice there is a newer version number for Plex in the PC etc downloads page, maybe just maybe there’ll be a “For-Shield” update soon??
