Recently we’ve had some issues with the commercial skipper crashing so I turned it off. Now I have a lot of recordings that i’d like to try and remove them from. Is there a way to manually kick off the commercial skipper against a recording?
Anyone have any tips for running this against already completed recordings?
What platform are you on?
Before it was built in, on Mac I used plexcomskip.py, On windows, I think you want to look at mcebuddy. I don’t have specific instructions, but I’m sure you can find them.
You can set up MCebuddy as a service and it can scan your media directly any time you want it too. It works well. I use it to compress my dvr recordings and convert them to mp4.
I am using windows and did install MCEBuddy (the latest free version for testing since i couldn’t find a trial of the latest version). My first attempt using comskip did not remove any commercials. I then located a few ini files on the site for USA OTA but still no success with removing any commercials. Anyone have a recommended comskip.ini file?
Ideally I would just like to use the one built into Plex.
This link might help. You can copy Plex’s comskip.ini and use where ever, or point MCEbuddy to this directory.
Do you notice it working on removing commercials? I’ve found the stock ini’s to at least remove some commercials, if not be too aggressive. I’ve found some OTA stations work better than others.
