Easy way to remove commercials?

So I set up everything last night and the dual tuner is working incredible. Records and plays tv perfectly. My question is about commercials in recorded files. There is roughly 6-8 minutes of commercials per 30 minute tv slot. This can add up to a lot of used space on your hard drive. Is there any easy or one click solutions to remove commercials from recordings? I know there are some other screen capture software that can do this automatically.

there is a post in the forums w/ a guide to do so with windows, however it requires some tuning. But the jist of it is MCEBuddy and comskip (both premium versions). I use it and it works pretty well.

The ‘real’ answer (such as it is…) is to get deaks to update his codebase for the Chapter Metadata Agent to work with TV Shows, and then there will no longer have to be any use of 3rd party cutting tools.

Chapter Metadata Agent

Here’s a gist of some linux shell commands to handle this … haven’t had a chance to set it up yet myself (as i’m dealing with getting the HDHomeRun to work correctly), but this is a good starting point:

Here’s a forum discussing this:
