Many player subtitle options ignored

Plex Media Player for Android lists options to adjust the appearance of subtitles. Some of these work (relative size), while others do not work.

The color setting is ignored.

The style setting may be ignored.

Position is ignored.

Background is ignored.

Many media have goofy, illegible subtitle fonts. It would be helpful for PMP to allow the user to override fonts with a more legible .TTF

Have you tried a text only subtitle ? Some people add formation tags to the files and you have to remove them.

If the subtitle format is a picture-based one (e.g. VOBSUB, PGS) then you cannot change the look or size of the subtitles at all.

The same applies to many text-based subtitles in the ASS format.

Some players do also adhere to the “color” and “size” formatting instructions which you sometimes can find in SRT subtitles, while other players ignore them. To get consistent results, I recommend you to remove these formattings from SRT files completely. See Introduction: convert image-based subtitles to SRT with Subtitle Edit for a viable method.
