Matching doesn't work properly

Hi guys, I don’t understand why Plex is not matching some of my movies even if the pattern is correct (Title - Year). If I click on “Match” after clicking the 3 dots, it instantaneously find the correct movie, so it’s like Plex is too lazy to confirm the match and want you to do it manually.
Of course this doesn’t happen with all movies, but only with some of them and it’s annoying me because if I want to re-scan my library in the future for whatever reason I’ll have to manually match these movies, and also I have 2 different libraries with the same movies so I really don’t like to manually match all these movies manually, twice.

So I’d like to know, why matching is not working as it should? And how could I fix it eventually? Cause here it says to name your movies exactly like I did, that is like this:

/Movies
   /Avatar (2009)
      Avatar (2009).mkv

Example of movies that it didn’t match:
La bella addormentata nel bosco (1959)
Lilli e il vagabondo (1955)
Lilli e il vagabondo (2019)
Il re leone II - Il regno di Simba (1998)
A Bug’s Life - Megaminimondo (1998)
Basil l’investigatopo (1986)
Monsters & Co. (2001)
Oliver & Company (1988)
Biancaneve e i sette nani (1937)

Example of unmatched movie

Based on the names I’ve checked, those seem ok.
Also… the screenshot looks like the movie did actually match – but for some reasons you didn’t get a poster.

Nope, it’s not matched.

What type of library is this and what agent are you using for this library?

It’s a movies type library of course, and I use Plex Movie Agent.
I just noticed there’s a Plex Movie (Legacy). What is that?

Plex Movie (Legacy) is an older version of Plex Movie that’s still around for users of older libraries. Don’t change to that.

Can you please perform the following steps:

  1. move the Monsters & Co folder outside the folder linked to your library
  2. scan the library for updates ( > Scan Library Files)
  3. if the item is still in your library (e.g. with a trash-can icon), manually empty that trash ( > Manage Library > Empty Trash)
  4. return the folder/movie files to their designated place
  5. scan the library for updates ( > Scan Library Files)
  6. wait for the scan to complete… afterwards download your server logs and upload the resulting zip-file here

Thank you tom, I just found out what happened. Since I used a software to rename the movies, it left the older folders in the same “Movies” folder and apparently it bothered Plex who probably scanned the files before they were renamed (I shouldn’t had activate the auto-scan), which then updated the folder, but not the “match”.
By the way, after removing the older folder, I had to do the Plex dance as you suggested.

Thanks a lot
