Media 0000 filling up my movies library?

I know how to delete them. Movie library- Plex Media Server- Cache- transcode then everything within the sessions folder. But then 2hrs later they’re adding back in.

I’ve uninstalled, then reinstalled Plex server with no change. PLEASE HELP

What does it show as the file path for one of those movies? and what are the file paths for that library?

My D: Drive - Movie Downloads - Plex Media Server - Cache - Transcode - Sessions….

I was thinking of cutting/pasting the “Plex Media Server Folder” out of the movies folder and directly in the D drive?

Not sure why you would ever include the transcode or similar folders. Anything under appdata should not be part of a library. I would setup 2 directories under D: D:\Movies and D:\TV and configure your libraries accordingly. Because you have the appdata in a library, its adding stuff that that doesn’t belong in a library

I agree, I just moved that Plex Media Server folder onto just the D drive and will see how it goes. Thanks for the help man

are you referring to the Folder under appdata that you moved? Or are you referring to your media library?

Don’t set Plex libraries to the root directory (D:), always make it as DBIRCH described above. If Plex can see it’s own data directory it will create a scanning nightmare.

@Taylord24 If you have not already you should review …

These documents will cover things like, do not add root folders to libraries and do not place your media under your plex media server installation.

I was referring to my Media server library folder that was in my Movies Library before.

Since moving that folder out of the Movies Folder library and directly onto the my D Drive (where all my other library’s are held) I have not seen the Media 0000 flood return.

I’m not too sure why this happened in the first place, as I’ve used Plex for 15yrs now and never had this issue til the last year or so (with no changes).

I really appreciate all the help on this forum.

Happy New Years!

Depending on the path you are using some windows “Libraries” are in fact a group of folders that windows combines, since its not an actual folder a lot of programs dont handle it well, or windows will add random folders it thinks should be there. With moving your media to its own folder (not part of one of these “libraries”) Windows is no longer trying to be helpful, and Plex can do what it does best.

Happy New Year all, so the Media 0001 came back again. I did previously remove the Ple Media Server out of my Movies folder and directly on my D Drive along with my TV shows & Music folders. It has been solid since today. I did notice another Plex Media Server folder in my Movies Folder, so I’m assuming its seeing all that cache data and somehow pulling it again.

What can I do to get rid of this? Delete my entire D; Drive and start from scratch?

Why is the “Plex Media Server” directory included in your library? That should sit under C:\Users\ \<username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server Not on D:\ What paths are part of that library:? can you include screenshots of all the lines?

You should have a folder on your drives where all your TV show are and another where all your movies are. When you create a library you give it the folder where that content type is. Do not add the entire D: drive.

Just delete that library and create a new one pointing to a proper folder where your media files are for that library type. ( you should not put media files in the Plex Media Sever appdata folder

That is how I have it currently.

D: Drive is my HDD external hard drive.
Within that drive, I have a folder for, TV shows, Movies and music. Then I reference each folder within Plex.

No idea. I just checked the file path you posted…
:\Users\ <username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server and I have it located there also.

is that path part of any library? or is any part of that path part of your library?

FYI you only need to Add D:\Movies, not each subfolder

So it keeps generating that Plex Media Server folder in my Movies folder located on my D drive.

I do have a Plex Media server folder in the C: users-“user name” - app data- local Plex media server.
-the last modified date was 2/2019.

How do I have Plex use that folder?

Did you ever edit LocalAppDataPath in the Plex registry settings? if you did it will create the folder where ever it is set to instead of default location

No, I never edited anything with Plex or my registry.
But* I do see within that path, LocalAppDataPath is going to my D:\ Movies folder.
