Media added following change to agent will no longer be added to plex library

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876

Hi There,

First post so please bear with me if I do not include all relevant information in order to help with this issue.

I have been running a Plex Media Server for a few years now within a Jail on FreeNAS/TrueNAS. I have had little to no issues throughout this time, however, I have generally always been on the Plex Movie (Legacy) Agent when new content is added to my server. I done a few server updates a few months back and refreshed my install of plex and reloaded all content as a result, when using the new agent none of my content would be found and added to my library. For a quick fix i just reverted to legacy and all content loaded with no issues. I was again very recently tidying up my media library, went to refresh metadata and noticed that there was the option to upgrade matching. I done this and the metadata refreshed successfully, however, today when adding new media when scanning the library I am now again having the issue where it is not adding the new media? I had to revert back to legacy, scan and then upgrade again? is there something simple I am missing? I would rather be on the new agent.

I have checked naming schemes and I do not think there would be any issues between Legacy and the new agent which would cause this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
G.

It’s not you. I’m having the same issue with a docker local server, a remote docker server, and 2 bare metal servers and movies do not match up at all. TV works fine, but tons of the movies are missed and it matches up some of the wrong crap and years. Something has def happened.

I’ve tried this out over here and I’m not able to duplicate your issue.

Server Version 1.21.1.3830, on an 11.3 jail
FreeNAS 11.3U5

After making a snaphot on my Plex jail I switched my movie libraries to the new scanner and did a refresh of all library metadata, After tweaking a few posters that changed and such, I’ve tried adding new media to the datasets that make up my libraries.

I’m deliberately not running manual scans on the libraries. All I’m doing is uploading a few movies to directories I use for those libraries, and then waiting to see if Plex picks up the new titles and matches them. So far the all are getting added automatically when Plex does an automatic refresh of the library. The new scanner has found all but one of the movies successfully on its own, too.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your replies, still not been able to get to the bottom of this so i will have to just stick with the legacy agent at the moment. I even tried creating a new directory and put a few test files in to this, went to plex and added an new library pointed to the new test folder and none of the media contained in the test folder was found or added. As soon as I changed to the legacy player, all files were added as normal and correctly matched etc.

Thought it might be down to permissions in FreeNAS but again I have had a look and all seems fine here…

Any other thoughts? I have attached the server logs in case anyone can help.

Thanks,
