Server Version#: 1.15.4.993
Player Version#:
Upgraded the app on my Netgear ReadyNAS 212 to 1.15.4.993 - Plex Media Sever (for RN2XX). Install went OK it seemed but when I started Plex, it looked like a new install and it took me through the set up wizard - add library, select the library type (movies etc), point it to the file location on the ReadyNAS and set it running to catalogue the content.
However, when it runs through this, it’s finding nothing and returning a message “there are no items in this library”.
The file names haven’t changed (e.g. Movie Name (Release Year).mp4 ) and they were all working without any problem in the previous installation.
I’ve tried forcing re-scans through the web interface but this hasn’t helped.
I have read that permissions may be the problem but I’ve checked these and ReadyNAS Admins and ReadyNAS guests are showing as having all permissions.
Accessing the ReadyNAS via Windows 10.
Any help will be welcome - I’m stuck for what to do next at the moment.
I started off using my Netgear NAS as my Plex server and eventually retired it for 2 reasons.
- I out grew it.
- It was a pain in the ass to maintain and update.
Maybe consider getting a Pi and running your Plex server on that with the NAS as a network drive?
Problem now appears to be resolved. Not sure if this is what cured it, but I was running one firmware version behind on the ReadyNAS. Updating the firmwear and then forcing a re-scan and re-catalogue in Plex now has the libraries back to how they were before.

Are you able to stop the PMS service in the ReadyNAS admin?
