Server Version#: 1.41.6 on QNAP NAS
Player Version#: 2025.15.0 on Samsung Galaxy S24 and 2025.14 on Galaxy Tab S7
UPDATE: SOLVED!
Uninstall the new app and reinstall the old one. Then set Plex to no automatic updates. Problems solved.
I have a lifetime Plex account for the last 10 years with no problems until the latest rollout of this new app. All of a sudden, on both my phone and tablet, the mobile app only very slowly populates my Plex home screen (as though I am back in the dial-up days) and when I select any media to play, it looks like it will play and then it just spins for about 20 seconds and then comes up with the following error: `

This happens every time on mobile data or on wi-fi which is not my home wi-fi network. I have tried uninstalling both apps and checking for updates on the QNAP server but nothing changes. I have used BitDefender mobile security and VPN on both phone and tablet and turning those off does nothing. I am really frustrated and can’t find anyone else who has this issue. But, ironically, I can use Plex normally on mobile data if I use plex.tv in a browser on both phone and tablet. I have not changed any settings on the server since the update other than reducing mobile streaming down to 2Mb to see if it was a capacity issue. Nothing changed. My home internet connection has an upload speed of 20Mbs like everybody else and I’ve never had a speed issue with streaming from the NAS before. I don’t believe it has to do with internet speed.
Also, a friend who accesses my Plex sever via an previous Plex app has no issues over his wi-fi. It appears it is only the new app. Can anyone please help?
I’m having the exact same issue. This new update especially paired with the removal of watch together has been extremely disappointing for me. As a lifetime Plex pass owner I’m very disappointed and this is the been the strongest case yet to switch over to jellyfin.
To solve (?) the issue, I uninstalled the new app on both the phone and the tablet and reinstalled the previous version which is now back to normal again. I have the old menu back and it streams with no issues. I then went into Google App Store on the phone to the Plex app and set it to no automatic updates so I can keep the old app until such time as Plex loses enough users to fix their abomination of a new app.
This is where I downloaded the old APK from:
Or just uninstall the current app, download https://downloads.plex.tv/Kepler/kepler-arm64-v8a-googlePlay-10.26.0.2578-6cc7ea1a.apk, and click the APK to install it natively. No third party tool required. You may need to enable Developer mode though. Go to “Settings” Tap “About device” or “About phone” Tap “Software information” Tap “Build number” seven times. … Enter your pattern, PIN or password to enable the Developer options menu. The “Developer options” menu will now appear in your Settin…
Don’t worry, I uninstalled the new app and installed the previous one. Now it’s all fixed! The only issue is the new app itself. But thanks for replying
Sorry but this issue is very old and the team make nothing for change that ?
Source error outside home with all smartphone, ipad and app. Last beta 30 april doesn’t change that. I pay for lifetime plex pass and i am ready to pay. But please resolve that is very problematic.
