Hello there, I’ve tried to troubleshoot this on Reddit first a week ago, but it didn’t yield many results. I’ve just copy & pasted my text from there, hope you don’t mind:

I’ve been postponing writing this for at least half a year because of severe lethargy, but here I am now, writing this!!
Okay, so I’m using a Nvidia Shield server setup. Have been using it for a couple of years, some hitches here and there, nothing dramatic.
However, since a few months there have been two annoying issues that didn’t resolve themselves with updates (I waited it out at first, thought it was probably a software bug)
For one, that’s the main issue, media playback always comes to a hold at around one hour of watching any given file. (Edit: What I mean by that is, it starts buffering, but I have waited it out for 15 minutes once, for troubleshooting purposes, and it did not recover on its own. Going back to the UI and restarting the file usually works) It’s not always at 1hr on the dot, sometimes a couple minutes earlier, sometimes a bit later. And very rarely, it doesn’t happen at all. I have two external hard drives connected and it doesn’t matter on which a file is located. I even replaced one of the drives recently, because the old one was starting make trouble, but the problem I described remains.
Edit: Forgot to mention, the Shield is also my main playback device at home, so even when I play a file directly on the Shield it still happens. When I’m playing something outside of my home network it happens much more frequently. Watched a movie with a friend earlier that’s not even 90 minutes long and it stopped 4 times during that time.
The other thing is, that the libraries don’t refresh by themselves (when dropping in new files), despite being set up to do so in their respective settings tab. It’s a minor inconvenience for my personal use, but I have a feeling the two issues are somehow connected, because I started noticing them around the same time.
Anyone had this happen before with a Shield build? I’d appreciate the help, if someone is able to give it. 
If there is no obvious fix for it, I’d probably resort to resetting the whole server (have done so before, a few years back) but that erases all my personal watch history and all the custom posters I chose and I’d rather not mark up every single item on the server as watched and reconfigure the right poster (why does the Plex metadata agent choose the most hideous and unofficial looking posters as defaults anyways?? lol)
Also, new seasons of shows I’ve watched previously wouldn’t pop up automatically in my queue after resetting (because to the server, it’s like I haven’t watched the previous seasons). A very minor thing, I admit, but I like that little feature and would love to make use of it, you know?
Can I backup that data somehow to restore it to the way it was before the reset? Is it a good idea even, when the aforementioned issues could (by any chance) be tied to that data?
