Hi, I noticed there is now a 64bit version of Plex server available. I wanted to check will the 32 bit automatically update to the 64 bit version. If not can I simply install the 64 bit version over the top transparently, or does it require a fresh install. Also does the 64bit version still work ok with Tautulli ?
Thanks
No. 32-bit will upgrade to 32-bit. You need to install the 64-bit manually. It will then auto-update and stay on the 64-bit version. 64-bit version will uninstall the 32-bit version so you don’t have to do anything special.
The 32-bit will not replace the 64-bit version, you will need to uninstall the 64-bit manually if you want to go back to the 32-bit.
To be clear, are you saying if I download the 64-bit installer and just run it without doing anything else this process will take place automatically? It will uninstall the 32-bit version and install the 64-bit version without losing any data or settings?
I just also planning to switch to 64bit version of plex on Windows and I am affraid that I will lose all my data and settings when I am going to do this.
So @FordGuy61 or anyone from Plex dev team are you 100% sure when I will install this new version of 64bit, it will keep all data including added folders, collections, pictures, unique backgrounds/posters, added users, settings and everything?
Or do I need to save the Plex Data from my local appdata folder and then just put it back when the installation is complete?
