When I watch videos through my Chromecast, my PC freezes sometimes. It is intermittent and I can’t always replicate the problem. My PC doesn’t give the blue screen, it just hangs and is totally unresponsive - I have to force a restart.
I thought it had something to do with HVEC or x265 files, but it is doing it with x264 files too. Sometimes the files that cause the hang don’t cause a hang if I play the file after a restart.
I run win 10x64 on an AMD FX 8350, 16gb RAM, and PMS is installed on my SSD with media being on hybrid drives.
I have a Coolermaster liquid cooler and my PC rarely exceeds 50 degrees.
I have run stress tests, where I streamed 4 files to different devices, all of which required transcoding, and I monitored my PC - no failures during the 20min I tested it.
It just froze again while trying to play an old SD avi file.
I have reinstalled windows (first had win 7 crashes, so I upgraded to win 10) and the PMS is currently running on my OS with very minimal other applications.
Any ideas on what I can try to fix this? I’m getting tired of the constant hard restarts.
