Can anyone please help?

I updated my Plex Media Server tonight and some patches installed for Windows 10 (version 1809 build 17763.557) and now neither of my TV’s can connect. I have tried installing an older version of Plex, which didn’t work. I’ve reinstalled the latest version, still not working. I’ve removed the devices, uninstalled their apps, reinstalled and reconnected them … still not working.

I do not know what to do next. I’ve attached the logs.

Can anyone please help me ?

Do you have secure connections disabled like the user in the other topic did. If so try changing “Allow Fall back to insecure connections” to “On the same network as server” the app settings on the TV

The only options I have under Network - Secure Connections are:
Required
Preferred
Disabled

I’ve tried Preferred, but it didn’t work, so currently it’s set back to Preferred, but still not working.

I mean in the settings of the app on the TV, not your server

It’s already configured that way.

OK then in the Privacy settings on TV. Enable "Log to Media Server. then relaunch the app on TV and wait a minute then grab server logs again. This will allow us to see what the app is looking for when trying to connect and maybe why it cannot find local server.

(in Manual Servers you can also enter the IP address of local server computer.)

Right, I tried adding the IP manually but it still did not make a difference.

here is the new logs;

Can you please turn off “Verbose” logging on your server and try again. Verbose fills up the logs with mostly useless stuff causing them to roll over too fast.

do I need to restart after changing the logging option ?

You should not need to.

I’m sorry I am not thinking. If TV cannot connect to server then it can’t send logs to server.

just to recap.

Your servers “secure connection” setting is set to preferred
On the TV the app’s “Allow Fall back to insecure connections” setting is set to “On the same network as server”

is that correct? going to ask some other folks to see what they think

That is correct.

Hello BigWheel,

I came right, thanks for all the support.

I got a WireShark capture and the connection was being blocked. It seems that somewhere along the processes of the initial failed plex upgrade, then subsequent re-installation of plex and the windows updates that the local Windows firewall rule for the plex server changed. I had 2 seperate entries for “plex media server.exe”. The one entry allowed only Private and the other entry allowed Public. I have now changed both entries to allow Private and Public. All my devices are now successfully connecting again.

Thanks again.
