Merge Recently Added items is removing "Recently Added Movies" from Home Page

After upgrading my Plex Docker and rebuilding, I noticed a change.

I have always had the “Merge Recently Added items” and saw the different movies that have been added to my Plex Library on my home page. It allowed me to see when plex added movies after the changes to the files. Now the line is gone.

When unchecking the Merge Recently Added items box under libraries, the libraries show the “Recently Added Movies” on the home page multiple times (for each library), but when checked the “Recently Added Movies” disappears.

Is there any answer for what’s going on? Or is this a known issue?

I’m not sure what’s going on here. It looks like there is a merged “recently added” section after you checked the box, but it appears filled with only two items (so far), and they are a wide-format. I’ve only seen wide-format videos like that in my “Other Videos” libraries, which I store my drone footage. By the looks of it, the two items in this “Recently Added Videos” are music videos, suggesting that it is finding those two as “most recently added” and putting them at the start of the list.

  • If you scroll that list to the right, do you see those “kids” movies at all, or is it more music videos?
  • ARE those music videos more recently added than the kids movies? (I have seen one issue where some movies can be added with corrupt “added at” dates that keep the movie at the front of the “recently added” list forever, because their added at date is so far in the future that nothing will ever be after it. Check the “added at” date on your music videos using ... > Get Info > View XML` for the Epoch time, then convert that to human time using this converter.)

On re-read of your post, you are saying that it had always worked as expected, but now the update it is gone. I guess I want to stress this “Recently added Videos” category that didn’t exist before the update, do you know where it came from?

I obviously was not clear. The recently add movies and the recently added TV Shows are not showing up as a combined rows. Before update, with the checkbox “Merge” checked, there was a row for Recently added TV Shows and another row for Movies, now the merged row for Recently Added Movies has disappeared. If I uncheck the box, the recently added movies shows up under each library.
