MergerFS mount not reachable by Plex

Hello,

I’m using a synology as Plex server and setup multiple single disks volume for media. I’m using mergerfs to provide a single view for all folder under the same directory. Everything was working but after a reboot, i’m not able to access to the files under the mergerfs mount.

I checked the permission but when browsing the directory through plex web, the “mount folder” is displayed as a file and i can’t access to my files. Without the mount, it’s shown as a folder but empty as expected because used for the mount.

I have no issue to access to the mergerfs mount with File Station or as share, only plex is not able to access to the content.

Do you see what settings i should check to get back the mount working?

Thx

Go back into the Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the share you are having MergerFS mount in - Permissions tab.

If user plex has permission to read/write the shared folder, you need to dig into the MergerFS permissions/configuration.

If unable to specify user plex, I suggest you make the permissions such that “everyone” has read/only access.

I had moved the movies to new share and recreate the mount but didn’t set the permission on the new “sub-share”. After adding Plex to all the share, plex is now able to access to the files.

My understanding was mergerfs act as a proxy and only the share used for the mount was requiered but at least on synology, other share include in the mount needs to have the permission.

MergerFS is a software API. Yes, it’s a proxy of sorts. What’s not happening here is it’s not properly propagating ownership up -or- username down.

Since the OS directly works (you did check that ?), it has to be in the config.

My role here is to make certain Plex works on Synology and to assist in that.
MergerFS is not part of what we release or can really help with. I can only point what I see. Maybe some of this is better asked in the support forum for MergerFS?
