Why are some of my titles showing as unavailable?

I am using mergerfs and it has been working great. Today, I suddenly ran into a handful of titles that are missing. When I go to Media Info and copy the path, I am able to paste and browse the titles in bash. The ownership nor permissions have changed; the file is owned by plex and the permissions are 777.

I thought I had my server all set, but this is throwing me a curve. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Ensure the ACLs are also still correct.

You don’t want user ‘plex’ in DSM 7.
You want system internal usr ‘PlexMediaServer’.

If hard perms are written, ACLs are broken. (Files and directories go to Linux mode).
DSM 7 does not like that.

Something about last night’s media addition wrote/set permission flags it shouldn’t have ??

If you write the files over the LAN, they will retain the permissions you wrote them with. They don’t assume the correct permissions once stored on the Syno.

Manually reapply permissions using FileStation → Properties → Permissions …
Be certain to “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files”

I wasn’t aware of the username change in DSM 7. I will try updating the file owner. Just curious, any idea why the other files with the same plex username and permissions are working fine?

ok, so I’m dumb lol.

I had added a new drive and moved some of my movies to it, then added the path to the mergerfs drive. Even though the mergerfs path showed the correct user and permissions, the actual drive path was owned by an admin user. I changed it to plex:users and that seemed to fix it :+1:
