Meta data run slow on Synology

I am running a plex system on my DS1512+ with 5, 6TB hard drives at 256 cache. I am trying to move all my stuff from my computer onto my synology. But the plex reading the files are so bloody slow. On computer, it was in no time. On the NAS, this would take forever. And I am only doing music. My photos were not any better. I did not do a huge dump either. Maybe 3 artists with several albums each. My CPU is running at 99%. this is ridiculous.

Any ideas to improve?

Settings - Server - library - ā€˜Show Advanced’

All the drop-down selectors with descriptions starting with ā€œGenerateā€¦ā€ and ā€œAnalyzeā€¦ā€ must be set to either ā€œDisabledā€ or ā€œAs a scheduled taskā€ (only).

You might have to stop and restart the server for the change to become effective.

If you are moving your Plex library you can move the whole thing onto you NAS and it should more or less pickup it up again as it where. (i did (or something like) this when i moved my ā€œserverā€ from windows PC to Synology. Fairly painless)

Also probably a good idea to shutdown Plex while moving lots of files so Syno can focus on the receiving and writing and not Plex working overtime too.

It would be really nice if you could move resources between plex servers using plex rather than the file system. I am moving a selection of playlisted resources to a Synology NAS and will probably need to re-create the playlists on the new server. But wouldn’t it be nice if we had global playlists and plex did it all and updated the playlist if you moved the resource to another server?
