I posted this originally in the Windows Forum, much to no avail or response. Can't figure out how to get the thread moved to this sub-forum (http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/54904-metadata-agent-problems/page__p__330431#entry330431), but maybe I'll have more luck here?
My Problem:
I'm trying to configure my MetaData Agents/Scrapers in Plex but am having no success. When I go to the Agents tab under Settings in the WebGUI I can't select or prioritize the Agents and none of them are pulling MetaData for me. The attached screen shots show what I see when I am in the WebGUI under Settings and Agents. The only one that presents me with the normal sub-menu of options with check-boxes is the Photos tab. I have tried deleting the items in the plug-ins folder as well as re-installing, with no luck either way. Are there any other Troubleshooting options to possibly resolve this issue? Prior to installing Plex I used (and still use, at least until an Xbox360 Plex app and TV Tuner support for Plex arrive) MediaScout to pull all my MetaData down for WMC with MediaBrowser and my WMC Extenders/Xbox360s. Is there a script or program I can run to change the MetaData files I already have to a format that is compatible with Plex? I have over 700 movies and I don't even want to venture the number of episodes of TV Series and Anime, so to do this manually just isn't possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please, anyone have any ideas? If I can't get the main scrapers to work, is there a script or something to convert my MediaScout metadata that is in XBMC format for Plex?
same problem, posters show up everywhere except media manager, roku, android are all fine but none in web browser… just installed latest server software.
I dont even get posters, none of the metadata agents pull info and I can’t configure them because when I open the settings menu in the gui, the metadata agents dont show up for me to configure them.
I’m getting metadata for movies, but not TV shows, which sucks, because i had all the data, and a update corrupted the DB, i had to nuke the profile and re-install.
UPDATE - Never-mind, working fine for me, im just an idiot. The drive i store the DB on was full, and couldn’t populate any more metadata. Free’d up some drive space, and all is well again.
I have the same problem. None of the agents, like cine21 or TViMbd can even be selected. I have looked everywhere for an answer. I admit I am stumbling through this whole process, but would like to do more than search on line for poster images then paste them on all of my media. Hope it is simpler than port forwarding!
You just have to stop the plex media server, navigate to your Plug-Ins folder and delete Framework.bundle along with System.bundle. Then start the server and the metadata should show up again.
For ubuntu users, the location is: /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-Ins/
I don't know about Windows and Mac but the same principle should apply :)

Thanks sa7039! I'm running Xubuntu and this worked perfectly. My Agents were not being listed, so I performed
sudo service plexmediaserver stop
cd /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Plug-ins/
I have tried deleting framework.bundle and system.bundle and it didn't work. This is a problem that just started for me. I have stopped the media server, deleted the files mentioned and still no agents are found once I restarted the media server. Any other suggestions?
If you have a proxy set to 127.0.0.1, then the meta agents do not work. If you disable your proxy, or set an exception for 127.0.0.1, then the meta data is pulled through.
Unfortunately, this breaks the proxy connection for everything else. I am yet to find a specific exception for the meta data agents to add to my settings.
The solution I've found so far is to stop using a proxy or find one that is not 127.0.0.1. Any help would be appreciated.
