Metadata Editing tools for TvShows/Movies

What I'd like to see:

 

More options to help editing the metadata.

An advanced options in settings to activate advanced editing of shows/movies metadata

 

What it would do:

 

Allow me to upload basically anything from a metadata sheet that I already have

A look-up feature to make it easier to get the info for a particular show/movie that the agents aren’t collecting on, with the ability to input the IMDB/TVDB # [mod-edit: implemented in fix-match modal]

The ability to open the actual metadata sheet and edit it, or just add stuff.

A more comprehensive cast list (for major movies, as well as for home movies  Ability to limit artwork, as well as lock individual art or sets of art.

 

I just feel like the ability to get metadata for the movies/shows is completely reliant on scanner/agents, and full scans. I want to be able to change stuff in a less clunky fashion then going to edit on every show/movie that is wrong.

 

Any other features, that you guys would like to see to make it easier to edit shows/movies?

I think the most pressing issue is the cast list that is still not editable even years after this point has been brought up by so many people in this forum:

Since it is possible to edit Directors and Writers it should really not be a problem to make the cast editable aswell? Am I missing a point here?

I’m using a video library for audiobooks (for the resume feature), and I’d love to be able to edit the cast to put in the name(s) of the narrator(s).

i would love it if i could delete unwanted posters so that it doesn’t take up hard drive space a little more easier; also when i add my own art i want it to stick; sometimes the art doesn’t stick when i add it manually and this is an issue; that’s where i agree with having advanced editing options for poster art would be great; no one wants to scour numerous amounts of folders to get rid of art that shouldn’t have been downloaded in the first place.

if anyone knows how to send them direct feedback or fix this issue i would love the help, but so far i have found nothing.

Please this is the only thing that bothers me about Plex is not having an editable Cast section. It’s very important to be able to search through your library by cast members and get 100% of results!

Come on. This needs to be done. It’s been years and years and years. I think this is another example of the Plex developers spending more time on new features and new platforms then working on, improving, and bug fixing their current features.

I agree that having unhelpful cast lists consisting of a handful of minor characters is really annoying. But **it’s easy to fix! ** In the web client, go to Settings/Server/Agents/The Movie Database, and drag The Movie Database to the top of the list (above Local Media Assets). Then Update Library from the main menu. Ta-daa! Perfect cast lists.

Basic feature, i have been looking for it since at least 3 years, i need it even more now asi use android TV and the search function with microphone.

is there any way to edit the raw database to add them manually ?

First post on the forum. In support of this after searching the web trying to figure out how to add guest stars to episodes of TV shows.

Have a bunch of Theatre videos I’d like to add the cast on to put them in my movie library, alas my local community theatre’s productions aren’t on any metadata searches, nor are the local actors in IMDB. Hence, I’d like to +1 about the editable cast list. You could do this on Boxee 10 years ago, why are we still stymied by it now? Especially when searching the threads, it’s been such a popular and requested feature. Surely it can’t be TOO difficult to implement…
