Metadata issue in Plex video scanner / Personal Media agent

Having an issue when setting video library to “Scanner: Plex Video Files Scanner” and “Agent: Personal Media” applies random movie metadata to the videos when looking at them in Plex Folder View.

Actual Folder Structure:

Plex Library View:

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7484 (Debian GNU/Linux PC x86_64 / Linux version: 6.2.16-8-pve)
Player Version#: 1.74.1.3913-9baac009 (Plex for macOS)

In your “Plex Library View” those are folders not the videos. The server can’t represent a file with a folder.

You opened the folder in the Finder screenshot so can’t see what other folders you have.

What folder(s) paths do you have set in the library settings?

thank you for your reply - sorry for the confusion. All folders in the finder screenshot have only 1 subfolder and all files in those subfolder are .mp4 video files in this format:

In addition it may be useful to note that this method was always how I added music video files with the understanding Plex doesn’t support indexing music video metadata.

Even though not ideal, I would then use the “Folder View” in Plex to right click and shuffle that folder - only way I can think of to play music video collections unless manually creating a playlist/collection which is a tedious process.

>Main Folder (Music Videos - Genres)
  > Subfolder 1
          >track number - artist - title.mp4
  > Subfolder 2
          >track number - artist - title.mp4
  > Subfolder 3
          >track number - artist - title.mp4

@BigWheel - is this a bug or do you think I am doing something wrong from the last post?

sorry of late reply. this just does not make any sense to me how it is jsut giving them random names of movies out of the blue. is it possible to get your server logs after scanning something new in and it gets some movie name for a folder

definitely seeing the issue appear across various libraries - all with the settings in the original post.

Can I DM you logs?
